Lord of the Waves
Lord you are the sea that keeps my boat afloat.
You are the wind that gently pushes me forward.
You are my compass that keeps me going on the right course.
You are a loving guide who shows me where I’ve gone wrong.
Your Word is the sun that shines the truth.
You set the ports for my craft to go.
You are my captain who will never leave my ship in the storm.
You bring joy and approval to my heart as I come under your leadership.
When I am terrified of the next squall, you reassure me that all will be well.
You have the final control of my craft.
When it seems all is lost, you are with me to show me the new horizon.
Protected From God
I keep you at a distance to protect myself from disappointment.
Past ones have made a wound I don’t want to reopen.
I doubt your love and fear that your power to save will not come.
Lord, melt my resistance to your love, let my faith swell
and open the door to your love. Let me risk the pain of disappointment
for the inflow of your grace and mercy.
He fills me with the knowledge
that I am acceptable to Him just as I am, sins and all.
Your mercy and love covered my sins with your shed blood.
You died for me, let me live in you love.
Help me Lord to step into Your truth; that you are my loving Dad.
Only you can heal my broken heart.
Port of Peace
Here I am child, in your heart, waiting for you to enjoy My presence.
I have a loving concern for what you are going through.
I am your port of peace in a storm.
I give you My time and attention when you call out to Me.
I want you to remain in My tender love throughout the day.
See Me as your pool of refreshment;
drink deep of the water that never fails to quench.
Learn to trust My intimate care for you.
When you do wrong, confess it and move on.
Learn to lift up your head, looking to My goodness and mercy.
When you fall down I will not leave you on your own.
You will know My power to save you from difficulties.
Don’t forget to come to Me in times of trouble.
I await your call for My help, I am here for you.
Seeking His Face
God seeks to bring all men close to His true, loving Self.
Wrong teaching, painful events, keep us from turning to Him. We must seek Him out through our trials and disappointments, until we see His loving face in the midst of sorrowful events.
His word, left for us who seek Him, is true.
His power and concern for the wayward, is evident.
Lead us into a constant faith in your goodness, in a world of evil forces that test us.
Free us from doubts and fears that inhibit our trust in You to save us.

About the Book
These poems were written in a time of post-traumatic stress. My husband had throat cancer. He underwent four years of treatment and seven surgeries to save his voice, and at times, his life. Afterward, his trauma created a time of great stress for both of us. I developed serious symptoms as well. We walked through our recovery time together under God’s loving care. Issues from our individual past came up to the surface. Our faith in God was being challenged and stretched. These prayerful poems were the ways I dealt with my feelings and experiences. God’s mighty power was made manifest in these difficult times.

About the Author
Betty Biank has a master's degree in community counseling and is a licensed professional counselor. In her years of counseling she was also an elder abuse investigator and an addiction counselor. She taught as a licensed Montessori preschool teacher for 6 years and a Learning Disability teacher in the Chicago public school system. Betty and her husband have been faithfully married for forty-two years. She has four grown children and delights in her seven grandchildren. Betty says she gets the inspiration for her Christian poetry during her prayer time.
