Only God, a power greater than man, that created man, can restore man to himself before addiction. Only God can break the addictive power of crack cocaine, meth, heroin, and an opioid addiction just to mention a few.
Demons strive in atmospheres where drug use is present. So, God is staging an intervention by extending his liberty (freedom from addiction) and at the same time he will restore your freedom to choose him and walk in his liberty.
Drugs causes mental illness in its users. Jesus healed people with all manner of sickness and at other times he delivered those filled with evil spirits. Spirits have their own personality and their evil is their nature. There are smoking demons alcoholic spirits; gambling spirits, and many more.
"For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) dwelleth no good thing; for to will is present with me. But how to perform that which is good I find not."
How to abstain--I was not able to perform. The drug changed my mind for me. I said, no . . . I'm not using today but somehow I ended up in the back seat of the car and the addiction was driving.
"For the good that I want to do, I do not; but the sin which I hate, that I do." Family and friends don't understand how their loved ones can be ruled by a drug and wreck their entire lives. Well, the craving is strong and has the strength of a satanic beast.
When you go swimming on a hot summer day, or eat your favorite ice cream; or read your favorite book, these activate the brain's reward system.
However, when you introduce an addictive drug into your system these addictive spirits in the drug take over the brain's reward system causing an over production of the chemical in the brain the causes pleasure. .
The most intimate relationship you can have with your higher power is to be married to him--be his bride, “that ye may bring forth fruit unto God." When I abide in his word, his spirit abides in me and I become one with him and nothing can separate me from his love. When I keep his commandments, I obligate him to me. It was then I decided to make his will my will. When his will becomes my will, my will is his will.
For as I passed by, and beheld your devotions, I found an altar with this inscription, "To the Unknown God," whom ye ignorantly worship, him declare I unto, you.
God the Son: the second person of the God Head--Jesus--whom I refer to as the Higher Power.
He and the Father are one.
The fullness of the God head dwells in him bodily.
The Message from Higher Power . . .
These are addicts who love God and receive his liberty and pursue for a while but when trouble comes feels God has left them and fall away . . .
No one knows the day or hour God will show up with your liberty. (Your freedom from drugs and your power to choose)
It is up to God how he deals with us individually concerning our addictions. To one he may . . . and to another he may . . . In the meantime I like to suggest support groups. Get a support group; go to meetings; church meetings also; and wait on the Lord by occupying all of your time staying busy. If you don't get instant sobriety, there are parts of every addicts' day when you are not feeling the urge to use. You might have an addiction, but you are not addicted 24 hours a day. There are parts of your day that you are able to function outside of your addiction. The cravings and triggers happen sometime during the day. The part of your day that your addiction has not kicked in is when you have to be the most productive. That time should be strategically scheduled.
- don't miss work, improve credit rating, make dental appointments.
Especially remember to mediate in prayer. This can happen anywhere you are. That time each day should be spend taking care of your personal business and your affairs; remember to meditate on his word even walking down the street or driving; also go to a church meeting or a group meeting.
The same way he restored Job's life remember in the book of Job? Job lost his children in the book of Job. Job lost his cattle, riches. Job was also ill. But God gave Job another family; and more cattle than he had before and everyone live in their new house. Job was healed of his terrible illness. Well, the same way he restored Job's life he propelled me from being a lodger to the lady of the manner.
God's liberty is holy because he is holy. To walk in his liberty is the freedom to do his will. Doing his will can be as simple as going out of your way a little to help someone. Or, for example, if you have organizational skills and can write grants, opening a pantry to help families in your neighborhood.
Nothing is as wonderful as having your mind restored to have freedom to live and choose. I choose Christ where liberty lives. When you trust God and take the first step, he will be there to guide you and open up your vision.
