Bartholomew of Yellowstone

Morning dawned over the trees. Bart slowly got to his feet and looked over toward where Lotan was the night before. He didn’t see him. He looked for Elam or Omar. He saw them talking quietly in the trees. “Hey, guys, do you know where Lotan went?” Bart asked wearily.

“Hi Bart, he’s just a little further into the trees. He’s fine,” Elam said. “I found some food for Lotan which I gave him this morning. He’ll have plenty of food for the next three or four days.”

“Thanks, Elam. I’ll get him some water after I eat my breakfast,” Bart said thankfully.

Bart ate slowly; not in any hurry to talk with Lotan.

Bart ate his fill. Then walked over to where he left the baskets and picked them up. Lotan looked angrily at him but didn’t say anything.

Exhausted, Bart walked to the lake. He felt like he had done the right thing in helping Lotan but it wasn’t working out exactly the way he wanted it to. He stopped and prayed, thanking the Lord for the opportunity to help Lotan and asking the Lord to bless Lotan as his leg healed. He also asked that he and Lotan would be friends someday.

Bart’s heart was at peace as the Lord reminded him that He is always good, always in control, no matter what Bart was feeling.

Walking forward he dipped the baskets in the water where he saw a white pelican swimming. He took a few minutes to refresh his spirit by watching it.
