67---The Mind of a Child
See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven. (Matthew 18:10 NIV)
Each kindergarten student was asked to draw a picture of his family. My grandson happily drew his daddy, mommy, and big sister. At the end of the day, the teacher told the kids to put their pictures into their backpacks, so they could take them home and show their parents.
After school he excitedly jumped off the bus, quickly handing his papers to his mom. With a big smile, he showed her each person that he had drawn. Both top corners of the paper had a picture of what appeared to be a sun in the sky.
His mom pointed to the first circle, asking, “What is this?”
He eagerly replied, “The sun!”
Pointing to the second sun, she repeated her question, “What’s this?”
Without a moment’s hesitation he said, “That’s God watching over us.”

Sometimes a picture paints a thousand words. Help us to be mindful of that as we raise our children to know and love you, Lord.

About the Author
Mary was one of five girls and grew up in the small town of East Canton, Ohio. She is the proud mother of one son and three daughters, all happily married. Mary has fourteen fantastic grandchildren.
Mary and her husband, Michael, met in Ohio. Michael’s job initially took them to New York for eighteen months, then to Wisconsin where they lived for almost seven years.
Although they are once again living in upstate New York, they’re hoping to return to Ohio when Michael retires. Mary says ‘once a Buckeye, always a Buckeye’ plus her heart will always be in Ohio where most of her family resides.
Mary enjoys reading, writing, singing and scrapbooking. She loves watching the Ohio State Football team play every year, too! Go Buckeyes!
