Preface
A major disconnect exists between the generations in the church. It is prevalent among the millennial generation. In a recent prayer meeting with pastors, deacons, laypersons, teachers, and leaders from varied churches and denominations, we prayed about issues in Macon, Georgia—our lovely city and state, the nation, and the world. It was observed that the common focus of prayer was our children and grandchildren—the millennials! We concluded that the common denominator for the missing link in the church is primarily the millennial generation. The Link Baptist Church family felt a need to not only address this situation with the millennials but also that of Generation Z. Thus, we were led in prayer to make a statement particularly to the millennials and generally to Generation Z. This book is evidence of our desire to not only make a difference but to also make a personal appeal, inviting the next generation to church. It is the work of the membership—individually and collectively.
A special thanks to my Geraldine, my wife, for being my buddy, pal, and best friend. I would not be able to do this without her. Pamela Paul, Clem Agee, Twila Gitschalg, Karmin and Bennie Baker, Adrianna Cooper-Jones, Octavious Smith, Aneitra Stephens, Lisa Murphy, Michelle Harper, Karmeron Agee, Keishe`a Paul, Angelia Denson, Brittnay Harrell-Stanley, Zachery Stanley, and Timothy Cochran are valuable members of the church who shared their God-given wisdom beyond measure and my mother, Mrs. Ola Finney, who has been a huge blessing. The children: Trinity Carter, Truth Carter, and Keara Dunn have proven that there are some children who are listening. Their contributions are invaluable. They represent the hope for today and tomorrow. Last, but certainly not least, I would like to thank the members of The Link Baptist Church who sacrificed time away from family for this endeavor. Jesus Christ is Lord and Savior. We dedicate this book: “The Lord, the Link, and the Lost” to the furthering of His Kingdom. Thank you, Lord Jesus. We love you so very much.
Until Jesus Returns,
