Chapter 1
Love School is open
Love School is not a mystery. Anytime, someone tries to love or discover love, they become a candidate for Love School. Love School has been open and anyone can enroll at any moment and time. It turns no one away, all are accepted. The tuition has already been paid. However, many seldom enrolls, but will remain in the school of Hard Knocks of starting and stopping, blaming and excuse making when it comes to relationship building for a lasting love. Once, I found this quote inside my Chinese fortune cookie, “Many after graduating from the school of hard knocks will soon re-enroll.” Often I have heard some saying things like “stuff happens, they were a cheat, they were a liar, I loved them but they didn’t love me back, etc. “The only prerequisite for Love School is the recognition that you need assistance and help in your love life. Love School is open and waiting for whosoever will call upon the Lord for help from their distresses, pains, grieves and sorrows of a broken heart. It is waiting for you to realize that you can’t continue to do things the same way and just hope for the best. Love school is open for you to enroll and begin learning the knowledge of Love and how to make the necessary changes in your own love life that will enable you to attract and be prepared when Love appears.
Even Scripture teaches us that our God is a very present help in time of need or distress, Psalms 46:1. It is up to each one of us to seek Him for the necessary help that pertains to us growing in the knowledge of love, just as; the Lord requires each of His followers to grow in the grace and knowledge of Himself, who is Love according to II Peter 3:18. We all know the verse of scripture from John 3:16 and can recite it without looking at a Bible, which says, “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”. We should know as well that God is Love and that He isn’t any doctrine, denomination, nation, race or religion. God is the sole Creator of heaven and earth. He is divine and supreme, ever present and loving Father of all. He is interested in everyone’s love life. Yes, He is simply waiting for any soul that seeks His help and assistance with their love life. However, I hope you don’t seek Him as I once sought Him by telling Him what I liked for Him to do for me. Yes, I can remember that I was praying soon after my divorce when I spoke to God about my future and what I desired and how I liked things to turn out and become. I can recall that day as if it was a minute ago. I was telling God and not giving Him a chance to speak or reply back to me. After all, I had been waiting and anticipating that day of new found freedom and chance to love and be loved greater than ever before. I assumed that because I was born-again and had some knowledge of Christ and Church because I was a bible college graduate, a pastor and teacher in ministry, for over two decades and just knew that I would be ok and find smooth sailing on my new journey of singleness, after a long term marriage. Little did I know or even comprehend the world of singles that I was about to enter. However, I can look back and say that I spoke to God as if He served me and not as if I served Him. In spite of my vain, brash and prideful mindset, in prayer that day, I can say that our God is a loving Father and He knows what is best for each one of His children. He kept a watch over me and knew that one day I would return humble and ready for His help, assistance and guidance in my journey of singleness to receive my heart’s desires. After a few inerrant decisions that I made, I realized that I should have been burnt toast or had some real detrimental issues happen because of some of my choices. However, I witnessed the Divine protection of God and His loving counsel each time. I discovered that our God will never leave or forsake us as long as we are seeking Him in our daily lives. I am reminded of this in the following scriptures:
Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. (Deut. 31:6, KJV)
for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. (Heb. 13:5b, KJV)
We have to be reminded that our journey is more than just where we are but where we are destined to go. We may make what seems like mistakes but we are not to keep our thoughts and minds there but moving forward. We have to be strong and courageous and know with certainty that He is with us now and forever.
Love School will begin when you recognize within your heart and soul the need for His help and guidance. You have come to the place in your mind that you can no longer endure any more pain, setbacks or brokenness from failed and unhealthy relationships. This isn’t an easy process but I believe that this day of breaking or reckoning will occur in all our lives and it takes courage and strength to recognize it and start the process of healing, recovery and discovery. Love School is open and ready to teach you when you are serious about eliminating the blame and excuses that never produce any kind of benefits. Enrollment is free but it does cost you giving up your pride and fears of loving again. Love School as previously mentioned, requires one to ask for help in learning about love and be willing to be a candidate to become more loving and lovable. This school is a special place for really special people. The Scriptures says in James 4:6, But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says, “GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE.”
Grace is given to empower and grant us the ability to do what we couldn’t because He is with us to perform it. Grace is a gift; it comes when you are at your weakest moments sometimes. Look at this verse from II Corinthians 12:9a, And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness."
