As born again believers in Jesus Christ we have a new identity. It is extremely important therefore, that we renew our minds according to our new position in Christ. God's word is the truth but unless we change our thinking in line with that truth we will always be living far short of the victorious life that He has for us. In Hebrew the word for meditation can also be translated as 'mutter', in other words speaking aloud. Confessing God's word, therefore, is also a way of meditating on it. The Bible says a lot about meditation and the rewards that come with it. When we declare God's word over our lives (and the lives of others) we are meditating on it, exercising our faith in what God has said and consequently our thinking changes. In doing this we are aligning our lives with His truth and our minds begin to be renewed and we are transformed!

About the Author
Philip Evans has a BSc in Civil Engineering from the University of Manchester and an MA in Missional Leadership from ForMission College and York St. John University. Together with his wife Margaret they pioneered a church plant in North Wales. They minister in the USA, Europe, Africa and Asia and have been privileged by God’s grace to see thousands come to Christ, healing miracles and believers released to experience the power of the Holy Spirit. They have also helped with the training of leaders and church planting in Nepal.
