Each morning I rise to spend time with you
Longing again to be refreshed and renewed
Though the day is still dark – no light has yet shone
Your glory I see while on my knees at Your throne.
No sound to distract me from hearing Your voice
As I open Your Word and in Your precepts rejoice
How I covet this time when it is peaceful and still
Enveloped by silence Your Holy Presence I feel.
The new day is dawning and what joy fills my soul
To be wrapped in Your arms as the new day unfolds
Please hold back the sun for just a little while more
And let me bask in Your love-know unfettered rapport

About the Author
Hubert McManus was born in Crystal Springs, Mississippi, and served in the United States Air Force after graduating from high school. He earned a bachelor of science degree in accounting, passed the CPA exam, and received CPA certification. For the past thirty-eight years McManus has worked in the construction industry serving as both controller and CFO for various organizations. He is married to his wife, Cathy, and is a member of Riveroaks Reformed Presbyterian Church in Germantown, Tennessee.
