Battle Cry: (noun)
“A loud shout given by soldiers to frighten the enemy or to encourage their own side.”
It is time to shout our own personal battle cries and to do that we must start sharing our stories—the real and the messy and the broken ones. It is time to encourage one another. And for goodness sakes it is definitely time to push back the enemy!
Even if people don’t want to talk about it the fact of the matter is that the enemy is real—very real. 1 Peter 5:8-9 says, “Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.” I don’t know about you but I kind of want to be ready for something like that! The verse continues saying, “Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of suffering.” We are not alone in this fight—so let’s stop acting like it!
Isaiah 43:2 says,
“When you pass through the waters,
I will be with you;
and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.
When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned;
the flames will not set you ablaze.”
Notice that the verse does not promise that God will dry up the waters, or reroute the river, or even put out the fire—no, he says “I will be with you” in the roaring waters and raging rivers and blazing fires.
He protects us and fights for us. He consistently shows up. He does the work in our lives—with us and through us. And then what do we do? We just quietly move on with life as if we somehow saved ourselves. Well it is time to stop. When we are too afraid to share our stories God misses the glory that He is due. Our lives are God’s battle cry — our story is HIS victory! We were never created to be the heroes of our own stories, we were created to be the rescued.
Nelson Mandala said, “There is no passion to be found playing small—in settling for a life that is less than the one you are capable of living.”
So let’s stop living small—Let’s fight big!
Let’s raise our voices and share our stories.
Let’s encourage one another and push back the enemy.
It’s time to shout our battle cry and give God the glory he is due.

In Battle Cry, author Jordyn Glaser shares her story, her personal battle cry. Filled with both trials and tribulations, she chronicles her journey to discovering the beauty of her brokenness. Through her experiences of being born with a complicated heart condition, having children with rare birth defects, and the emotional roller coaster of multiple adoptions, Glaser acknowledges the strength of Christ and the value of being refined in the fire.

About the Author
Jordyn Glaser is wife to her college sweetheart and mother to four children. She is the author and illustrator of the children’s book The Little Fawn and Her Stolen Spots. She loves black coffee, her Australian Shepherds, and Jesus. Glaser and her family live in Central Oregon.
