Why did I write this book. Life has a funny way of hitting you when you least expect it. Through my real life journey of victory and defeat, there is an evolution that took place. This book is not for the faint of heart. It will test your resolve to face the person in the mirror. To be real. No holds barred and in your face. The illusion that we are authentic and open to our own flaws is a constant reminder that we are in process.
In life there are real hurdles. For me it is about self examination and humility. The tenth born of a family of 14 and in complete ignorance of purpose. It was hardly a Walton’s type living where there was a unified mindset of family and love. Born into this world, naïve and determined.
It is often said that if you want to make God laugh, make plans. In a perfect world we want the success, the accolades and the recognition of family friends and colleagues. Regrettably our world is not perfect. For many it is the daily task of survival. No fanfare, no drama, get up, get out, get ahead.
Much like many of you, I have high hopes. This is not a sob story but a testimony. If you can open your mind to who you really are , you will no doubt feel conviction. It is time to get real. So the question remains….are you ready for surrender? TOTAL SURRENDER? Can you be humbled to the point where all you are and all you have is stripped?. We often think that when adversity hits , when challenges arise, and when the first slice of humble pie is choked on and swallowed, we have the tenacity to overcome. But do we?
Your single greatest victory is not overcoming your worries and fears. It is an illusion to think that you have control. It is a David vs Goliath mentality that catapults you from who you think you are to who you really are. Resist the idea if you must, but eventually you succumb to the reality that you’re only a shadow of your former self. Total surrender will bring you to a place of awareness that , if you reach it, you will know the real being inside you.
Some of you may question this book and its contents. Others will reflect and still many, live in denial. This is not about the have and have nots, it’s more about the who am I’s. There is no greater reflection in life than the realization that we all wear a mask. Layered in confidence, but in reality a façade of ego and defiance. You will soon realize that the reality of what you face each day, will ultimately expose the real you. Total surrender of self is the key to discovering who the person in the mirror really is.
