I wrote this for an old dairy farmer that told me his story one day. He died soon after I wrote it.
Hence the name Soon, very Soon
Soon very soon
He bought this piece of land when she said she would be his wife
This would be where they would spin the rest of their life
A few acres of rich green grassy ground just on the outskirts of their small town
A few head of cattle an old barn and a creek
She was so happy when he first brought her here that she could hardly speak
A little house on the hill when their family started growing, grew smaller still
He said I will build you a bigger house with a lot of room soon, very soon
Down in the meadow where the wild flowers grow and the grass is so green
It is the prettiest place for a house that I have ever seen
They all worked so hard here on the farm, he was going to build her that house, but first a bigger barn
It seemed it was always one thing or another
“I will never get that big house.” he heard her tell her mother
He had started on it the very next day and she was a happy as the sunshine in May
She loved picking out the colors, the carpet, and the drapes
And sometimes she would come out and sit on the big country porch just to escape
She would smile and wave as he would go by on his old John Deere tractor
And she thought he was more handsome, sexier than any Hollywood actor
They could not believe when the doctor said she didn’t have long to live
She tried so hard to fight But she had gave all she had to give
She left while her house still smelled new
Their years together had seemed so few
She has been gone for twenty-five years now
He still feels her here in their house some how
He walks through the house trying to feel her presence in all the rooms
And today it seemed he heard her whisper soon, very soon

Oh little baby, so innocent and sweet
Rooting so close to your mom
Trying to find that familiar heartbeat…
Looking for a bond only a mom can give
Gotta adjust in this new climate where you came to live.

Before your life gets started
You must learn defeat.
For in giving you life, even before your first breath
Your mom has given you death.
She has given you aids.
You’re just another mistake she’s made.
No matter, if from sex or drugs
You’ll soon just be a memory, of kisses and hugs.

You have been loved so much
So many lives you have touched.
You didn’t ask to be born you never asked to be here
But in your coming and your going
You make heaven seem so near.
You are the Truest Love
I don’t know what I would do if I didn’t have you
Such emptiness in my heart, I could never understand
Till you touched me with your love
Your love from a nail scarred hand
Now I know you are my light
The brightest of light in the darkest of night
When everything is wrong you find me a right
Though love may come and love may go
You are the truest love I will ever know
You will never break my heart
Never make me cry
Never ever leave me, never say goodbye
Jesus you said you will be with me until the end
Leading me through paths that I have never been
When I walk through the shadows of death
You will be there with me when I take my last breath
Now I know you are my brightest of light
in my darkness of night
When everything is wrong you find me a right
Though love may come and love may go
You are the truest love I will ever know
You will never break my heart
Never make me cry
Never ever leave me, never say goodbye
You are my sunshine on a rainy day
When I am lost you lead me in the right way
You give me something I can hold on too
Until the light of dawn comes breaking thru
There is no other love like the one you have given me
Gave up your life that I could go free
Now you are my beacon in the darkest of night
You will be my wings unto my final flight
Your love has never failed me and it never will
Though I have let you down
Jesus you love me still
Though love may come and love may go
You are the truest love I will ever know
You will never break my heart
Never make me cry, never break a promise
Never lie. Never ever leave me.
Never say goodbye.

About the Author
Doris S. Hall is a mother of 5 daughters, 13 grandkids, 17 great grandkids and more on the way. She is married to Jay Hall, a retired dairy farmer and have just celebrated their 58th Anniversary together, this year.
The daughter of a preacher, Doris was raised in church. Her mama has always been and always will be a huge influence and inspiration to her and the whole generations. “She taught our entire family how to love the Lord and how He loves us.” She says, “God spoke to my heart when I was just a kid and said if I never leave Him that He would never leave me. There were times when I had wandered away from God, but He was always there, waiting where I left Him at and it didn’t take me long to run back to look for Him. God has always been there with me through thick and thin, the ups and downs, always taking care of me. People can let you down, go off and leave you, sometimes even forget about you, but God never will...never alone. He’s only a heart’s cry away. Just take a minute and say a prayer. Call on Jesus, He will be there.”
