MY JOURNEY ON FAITH STREET:

In Psalms 46:10, Be still and know that I am God, is where God is defending his city and people. The Hebrew definition is to stop striving, to let go, surrender. This assured me that I can take comfort in stillness before the Lord, and depending on him to provide help, strength and healing to my situation. The cancer journey allowed me to sit still in the presence of the Lord and mediate on his word daily. You see, this journey is not about me or you, it’s all about Jesus and the work that he intends to do through us during this journey. I am reminded of the story of Lazarus, whom Jesus raised from the dead. Jesus was on his way to heal Lazarus, but he came too late and he was already stinking in the grave. When Jesus heard he had died, he was not a bit perturbed but said “This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.” There is a plan and a purpose for everything God allows to happen to us, we just need to sit still in his presence to hear what he is saying to us. When you sit still in God’s presence, he takes you into a secret place where you can pour out all of you to him, casting all your burdens at his feet, it’s just you and Jesus! In those moments, you give him all of your heart, mind, body, spirit, soul, thoughts and feelings, and you rely completely on him. Have you found your secret place yet? I am continuing to build my faith in the Lord. After the nurse came to check my wound today, we discussed the chemotherapy treatment. She had taken care of many patients with cancer and told me what to expect, but that everyone was different. I must admit the thought or notion of chemo in my body was not a pleasant thought, so I began to praise God for a supernatural victory. I remember reading Rod Parsley’s book “Be Made Whole” and was drawn at this time to a scripture he quoted from Isaiah 41:10 “Do not fear for I am with you, do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, I will help you, Yes I will uphold you with my righteous hand.” This was the right dosage of medicine I needed to heal me at the very moment.
