This book is about a problem that the world has. The problem in this world is that there are people who are no touch people. Who are no touch people? I will explain no touch people later. But first, I want to tell you that it is not your fault that the world has this kind of trouble — or these types of no touch people.
First, let’s talk about the two kinds of touch that all people have to choose from. There is good touch, which is the same as God touch.
The Bible talks about Jesus touching the little children who came to see Him. “then they brought little children to Him, that He might touch them...And He took them up in His arms, laid His hands on them, and blessed them” (Mark 10:13a, 16).
The other kind of touch is no touch. Remember: at the beginning of this book I told you I would tell you later about no touch people. There are people in this world who do not choose good touch. They do not choose the kind of touch which God wants them to choose. These are the no touch people who bring trouble into the world. What is no touch? NO touch is when you say “NO!” to anybody who wants to touch you in ways that make you feel scared. Anyone who tries to touch your body when you don’t want them to touch you becomes a no touch person in your life. The best news about touch is that you can rejoice and feel joyful to learn that almost all touches are good touches—God touches. YAY!

Your body was created by God, and it is a wonderful gift from Him. He wants you and others to treat it with respect. In Overcoming Abuse: My Body Belongs to God and Me, author Reina Davison helps children understand the difference between good touch and no touch and how to identify a no touch person.
Through words and illustrations, the author teaches examples of proper and improper affection and body safety for protection at home, in the community, and on the internet. Davison empowers children to say "no" when a person approaches with improper affection and liberates them to tell a trusted adult when they feel scared and unsafe.

About the Author
Reina Davison completed the trauma and abuse post-graduate program at the University of Texas. She received her post-graduate training from the marriage and family therapy program at the Karl Menninger School of Psychiatry and Mental Health Sciences. Davison is a marriage and family therapist and has taught sociology, marriage and family, and cultural anthropology as adjunct faculty. She is a U.S. Army veteran with a Master of Clinical Social Work from the University of Kansas.
