The word multiply is in the Bible 227 times. Other meanings attached to this word are to make great, enlarge, do much in respect, and exceedingly. These are powerful words with a lot of glory. God crowned Adam and Eve with these words, “Multiply and be fruitful.” God crowned Noah with the same words. God crowned Abraham and Jacob until a nation came into existence.
God demonstrated His power of multiplication in many ways. Let us look at Exodus 1:7, “But the children of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly, multiplied and grew exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them.” Again, we see the words multiplied and grew exceedingly hand in hand. God’s promises were active and alive because the Hebrew people were at the will of God in the right place at the right time.
How do we know they were in the right place and at the right time? Let us take a look at what God told Abraham in Genesis 15:13–14, “Know certainly that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and they will afflict them four hundred years. In addition, the nation whom they serve I will judge; afterward they shall come out with great possessions.”
Even when Pharaoh demanded the midwives kill all baby boys, God intervened. The midwives feared God, and the Word of God says that the people multiplied and grew very mighty. God created multiplication. God has the formula of how the multiplication works. In math, the symbol for multiplication is x. It also referred as product, times, or by. Humans think they invented multiplication, but the real creator of multiplication is God.
