FOUNDATION OF THE CHRISTIAN FAITH

In Heb. 11: 1, at says, Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. The author supports his encouragement to steadfast faith, first he provides, not a definition, but a description of how faith works. Faith is established conviction concerning things unseen and settled expectation of future reward. The Greek word translated substance means [a standing under], and was used in the technical séance of title deed. The idea is that of standing under the claim to the property to support its validity. Faith is the title deed of things hoped for. Thus, emphasizes that assurance rests on God's promises.

The title deed, a declaration of action of faith, faith is not based upon the senses, which yield uncertainty, but rather on the word of God. Faith, as we shall see, it is faith in the cross.

ISA. 55: 10, 11, For as the rain comes down, and the snow from heaven, and do not return there, but water the earth, and make it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater.

So shall my word be that goes forth from my mouth, it shall not return to me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

God's word of promise will never be barren. The power in his word will always fulfill the promise of his word, fruitfulness is a guaranteed by product, whether for the salvation of a lost soul or the provision of a disciple's needs. God's word cannot be barren or fruitless, his own life power is within it. For it is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
