Learning God’s Word!

The purpose of BibleStudy CrossWords is to help people retain God’s Word and go deeper into its meaning. Our hope is that our puzzles will become tools to make scripture an integral part of your life and increase your faith in Jesus Christ. The NIV Bible is the only reference where you will find the answers to the across and down questions. Solving the puzzles is a three-step process:

1. Read the designated verses in an NIV Bible. If you take your time reading you will remember more detail; if you read more than once you will retain more of the storyline and specific words demanded by the puzzles. You will find that you read differently when reading to remember than just doing a casual read.

2. Select from the Down and Across questions you prefer based on how the puzzle is developing and fill in the answers as best you can. You may consider selecting questions that already have one or more letters filled in to help formulate a correct answer.

3. Check your answers with an NIV Bible after you have gone through all the questions. Every answer will consist of a specific word used in the designated Bible verse. If there are questions you were unable to answer, read the corresponding verse and fill in the correct answer. This is the study part of BibleStudy CrossWords.



CrossWords for Bible Study

HOME STUDY – set aside one day each week to read the designated chapters for a puzzle. Read the chapters slowly at least twice before attempting to solve the puzzle. Begin by selecting the questions that appear to be the easiest to answer and continue as letter-clues help you to answer more questions. Finally, refer to the designated chapter and verse to find the correct words to unanswered questions.

CLASSROOM – Many study formats are possible in a group setting. The most popular with churches is to bring the books to class after doing the puzzles at home. Class-time is devoted to discussing context surrounding the most meaningful and difficult questions to answer. Others elect to do the puzzles in class in a competitive team format.


The puzzles vary in difficulty. Try not to become frustrated by the more difficult; going back to the
Bible for answers is the most important part of the learning process.
