14.2 God blesses godly Relationships

It takes God to bless a marriage, man cannot do it alone; it just wouldn’t work. This is the very reason why people who are rich and wealthy still have failed marriages. A blessing encompasses more than finances it includes God, the word, faith, destiny, purpose, provision and the spirit of the Lord. When God gives us a Word, we by faith receive the word and our destiny, purpose and direction comes from the leading of the Holy Spirit and we are able to walk out what God has outlined for our marriage. There are people in our society that have done this, and we see the fruit in their lives. Those who chose not to include God have suffered losses that they never should have, due to disobedience. When you look in the Word of God, you see men and woman who learned that success in life was directly connected to their obedience, trust, and dependence on God. They learned that waiting during times of difficulty developed and cultivated their relationship with God, and in the end after going through the process, they were able to enjoy the promises of God. Waiting tests our faith in God, because something that is seen cannot be hoped for. The Kingdom of God, as described in the book of Romans, is based primarily on what we cannot see and what we believe by faith. When people have to wait for something promised they value it more. Waiting produces patience and total dependence on God. Waiting allows us to see our true motives and is a means of how God develops our relationships. Several people in the Bible had to wait on the Lord for guidance, instructions, and often deliverance. Noah had to wait for the flood, Abraham had to wait for a child, Joseph waited to become a leader, and many others also had to wait on the promises of God. God has a specific time and place in our lives that He orchestrates events to take place, according to His will. We have to remember that our destiny is centered on God’s timing, and not ours. A godly marriage does not depend on the world’s timing or design. As believers, we cannot consult the world’s vision about what marriage should look like because the world didn’t create marriage, God did. You cannot consult a doctor to tell you how to fly a plane because he isn’t a pilot. God has innumerable ways that he accomplishes His will with each individual person. Don’t expect your time for marriage to be the same as someone else’s. God may quickly give one a companion and another may have to wait for several years. It all has to do with His will and purpose for each particular. God may be taking time to develop a couple, and prepare them for marriage. God may have a ministry or church that he wants a couple to start. God may take a couple overseas to start a mission in another country. His purpose can take people places that they would have never expected to go on their own. Everything is determined by God, and His specific design and timing for your marriage and for the purpose you and your companion were created. This book outlines how you should wait on God for marriage, and how he desires us to seek him first during the process of our waiting.
