The purpose of this book is to give you a simple, straight-forward, thought provoking framework you can draw from to help you share your Christianity. Let me be clear that this is not the only way; nor is it even the best way for many situations; and it’s certainly not the “right” way. But it is a way that can be the foundation for shaping your own personal style for sharing your Christianity.
In this framework I’m appealing to a person’s logic and intellect. The goal is to present Christianity in a way that almost anyone would find it reasonable to believe that the claims of Christ are at least possible.
To get their minds working. To get them thinking about it. To get them to stop for a minute and pull back from the routine of their day and say, “Wow, there’s a lot going on in this world; I wonder if there’s something more to my life than I realize?”
We’ve lost our sense of just how extraordinary creation is. In our day-to-day busyness, we walk right by thousands of creation’s miracles every day - not giving them a second thought. We’ve taken creation, and the wonder of it, for granted. But if we step back and take the time to give it some real thought, it’s hard to make the argument that there is no creator. And that’s the starting point for this framework for sharing your Christianity. I fully realize that appealing to a person’s logic and intellect alone isn’t always the best approach, but for many it will be the best place to start. It’s obviously up to you to decide when this approach is appropriate and when it isn’t.
I’m also specifically avoiding “churchy” words and phrases. For example, when someone says something like “I was filled with the Spirit”, people who have grown up in church know what that means. But if you didn't grow up in church those words could be very confusing and make the conversation uncomfortable for the other person. And confusion and discomfort are obviously not going to help you convey your message. Likewise, I’m also deliberately leaving out direct references to scripture. Bombarding people with scripture quotes can drive some people away from the conversation. The goal is to invite them to consider what you’re sharing, so you want your approach to be welcoming and respectful. Having said that, you’ll find that every aspect of this framework is firmly based in scripture.

About the Author
Tim Cooke is a Senior Consulting Client Executive with the IBM Corporation. After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps., he joined IBM in 1982 and has held multiple technical and sales leadership positions rising to the level of Business Unit Executive. He also serves as a Bible Study leader and, ad hoc, as a counselor at GraceWorks Church. He holds a B.S. in Computer Science/Business Administration from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and an M.S. in Mental Health Counseling from Lee University. Tim is a native of Chattanooga, TN where he currently resides.
