My Son, Do Not Forget My Teachings
We Stand with You and for You!
He is more than a Black boy, a prison number, a problem child, or someone who was once here. He is my son.God always hasperfect timing. God knows exactly when he wants you to release a book or be a voice during uncertain times in the world. When we wrote Dear Daughter there was a young lady whowas in the bathroom with some other young ladies and a fight broke out. The young lady was unfortunately killed. Dear Daughterwasbased on Psalm 139, letting all daughters know that God knowsthemand theyare worthy. Unfortunately, while we were writing this book we hada case of police brutality with George Floyd, and other Black men have been killed by racial profiling. As mothers we speak this over every male life—you are far more than what society has labeled you. You are able to do all things through Christ who strengthens you (Philippians 4:13).You can be anything. You can go anywhere. We want you to know that we as mothers are standing with our signs held high. We Stand with You and for You! Is the voice being the change? What we don’t want you to do is give up. So, sons all over the world, do not—and I mean do not—forget the teachings of your mother.
Whether it’s the power of your words, knowing that God will make you the head and not the tail (Deuteronomy 28:13), watching your mother’s walk of faith, recognizing timeless values, knowing you can always come home, being an overcomer of falsely spoken words or actions, or trusting the process, God has a plan for your life.
“My Son, whatever you do, don’t forget my teachings of wisdom.Keep them close to you heart because God promised you, you will have length of days.” (Proverbs 3:1–2 AMP)

About the Book
It’s time to mentor him! We must be the leaders and examples our young men need. We can speak words of affirmation and support him. The world has tried to label our young men in a negative way, but we stand with and for them.
Author Cassandra Ferguson, along with her six coauthors, previously took a stand for girls around the world with their earlier project, Dear Daughter. Now these moms are seeking to disrupt the status quo and demand change. Here they share their teaching moments with their sons, reminding them that they are far more than what society has labeled them. They can do all things through Christ who strengthens them; they can be anything and go anywhere—as long as they don’t give up. Standing with our sons requires not just words but also resilience and determination. Mothers’ teachings can have a tremendous effect on sons, and these authors are out to ensure they don’t forget that.
