Biblical Consistency The Bible is a story which goes from the beginning (Genesis) to the end (Revelation).It is divided into 2 sections: The Old Testament and the New Testament. It is generally agreed that there are 400 years between these two books. It begins with the creation of all things including mankind. God gives Adam and Eve instructions that they may eat of all the plants in the Garden of Eden with the exception of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil. Eve after being deceived by Satan who approached her in the form of a serpent, ate of the fruit, and later encouraged Adam to do the same. After Adam followed her suggestion, they were driven from the garden so they could not eat of the Tree of Life in their broken condition. Somewhere in this scenario God provides clothing for them by sacrificing a lamb. Promises are made including Eve is told childbirth would now be painful, and Adam from now on would have to toil and sweat for his food and deal with thorns and thistles. Obviously, this implies these conditions were different before what is known as the “Fall of Man.” Another promise was made that Eve would have an offspring that would crush the head of the serpent (Satan), but the serpent would bruise his heel (Genesis:2:14-18). This is commonly viewed as the first messianic prophecy.
