“It’s a brand-new day!” Lydia cheered, entering the main hallway of Lakeland County Elementary School.
Walking through the crowded hallway, she waved at classmates on her way to her first-period language arts class. She looked up at the electronic bulletin board. The colorful flashing message: Annual Spring Dance, Friday, May 2nd, captured her attention.
Smiling at her teacher and greeting her classmates with air high fives, Lydia took her seat in the second row. Reflecting briefly on the bulletin board message, she thought to herself, “A Spring dance! That should be exciting!”
