There are significant truths we need to know about the anointing if we are going to operate in it according to God’s will. For instance, the Bible only declares that you either are, or are not, anointed. The word of God says nothing about you being more, or less anointed. Therefore, a double portion of the anointing has no Biblical relevance. And since the anointing never gets stale, it never needs to be made fresh again, so there is no need for a fresh anointing. Also, there is not one single account in the entire word of God where anyone ever said they felt the anointing, though it is filled with accounts of people operating in it. And you can read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation and not find one account where the anointing ever fell on anyone, yet it is filled with examples of the Holy Spirit falling on the anointed. And since the anointing is permanent, you cannot find one Biblical account of it ever lifting off anyone as if it comes and goes.
Am I suggesting that we can no longer say such things? Honestly, I do not think it is an issue if we do. But these statements, and many more just like them, lead believers to pray unscriptural and inaccurate prayers by making them think what they need is one thing when what they are really looking for is another.
The Lord wills that all New Covenant believers be witnesses of His power by demonstrating His power. This is absolute truth. This is His will for all believers. However, according to the Bible, the only way the Holy Spirit will release His power through a vessel of flesh is through the anointing. Yet, the anointing remains one of the most misunderstood and misquoted topics in all of Christendom.
