Behind the Power
Lawmakers may grow out of control,
But God sends a consequence, as we all know.
Among His people are the chosen ones.
Heed the warning for His will shall be done.
Sing out, you soldiers, emanate His voice!
God’s in control and knows your choice.
You are the mouthpiece, and God will do the rest.
Faith in the Lord is what we know best.
Action, Not Words
Anyone spoiling for a fight
Won’t find one in my sight.
Confrontation goes in one ear and out the other;
I learned how to do that with my sisters and brothers.
Distracting them helped a lot,
By showing my love right on the spot.
Cupping their faces gently with my hands.
I’m not the enemy but one of the fans.
Letting them know that even though we might not agree,
We have binds that tie, yet we are also free.
I’d rather show them the best of me,
Not just for them, but for all to see.

About the Book
This book contains much of the poetry written to accompany the weekly sermons at Willow River Baptist Church of Houston under Pastor Al Cabrera. It contains poems written over several years. Pastor Cabrera gave me the sermon scriptures each week to write a related poem to print in the bulletin. Many poems came to me in the middle of the night, and I would quickly rise to put them on paper. Only the Holy Spirit could allow me the words to write.

Born August 4, 1937 in Saginaw, Michigan U.S.A.
Had four children: Carol Anne, David, Wayne, Sandra.
Married Second time to William H. Allen with daughter Stephanie.
Schooling: Two years Michigan State University and Delta College majoring in Communications / Labor Relations.
Two years at the Institute of Children’s Literature.
Two years at the Abundant Life School of Ministry.
First Book was published in 2008 “Through My Eyes”.
Other poems published elsewhere: “The International Library of Poetry”, “The Best Poems of 2007”, “Collected Whispers” in 2008.
