About the Book
This is a story that is based from the biblical story of the prodigal son. This, however is a updated storyline approach by using as a central character named Johnny who is a young boy who comes from a nice home. With his father and brother. He soon began to take all that was given to him for granted. He leaves his house for the freedom he longed for. He soon found out that his new found freedom now comes with many potential consequences. He learns that life is not as easy from home as he thought. He over time experiences hardship and now realizes what he had at home with his father and brother was much better than he thought. He goes back home only to experience forgiveness and love from his father.
About the Author
Dr. Davenport previously served as Pastor of the Community Covenant Church in Calumet Park, Illinois for twenty one years. He served for 12 years as the National Director of Church Growth in the national office for the Evangelical Covenant Church. It was through his leadership that he assisted in training pastors, starting and revitalizing over 200 churches. He also served for 2 years as a interim pastor to help revitalize a church and bring back to health a congregation that had considered closing its doors. He also served as an adjunct professor of preaching at North Park Seminary.
He is the recipient of many awards. One such example is a Proclamation by the United States Congress for Community Service which is now filed in the Library of Congress in Washington DC. He was awarded by the Calumet Park Illinois city council, a street named in his honor. Dr Davenport is a member of the American Christian Counseling Association. He has traveled, preached and taught through out the United States and Internationally. He received his undergrad degree from Southern Illinois University, graduate degree from Garrett Seminary and doctorate in counseling from Bethany Seminary.
Dr Davenport has published books and various articles. He published “7 Healthy Stages in Male of Female Relationships”, “The Intentional Leader” and Flawed Pots: Dealing with Difficult and Toxic Christians. All books are available now online amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.
Dr Davenport is the husband of Frances, a former school teacher, they have five children and live in The south suburbs of Chicago.
