Be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. ―Romans 12:2
To be renewed in our minds, we must first devote ourselves to God; only afterward may we be “blameless and harmless, the sons of God, and without rebuke amid a crooked and perverse nation” (Phil. 2:15). Though none can attain the heights or the splendor of the Lord, the more transformed we become, the more we experience the love of Christ, which passes all understanding.
Though she is but a worm, she spins her silk cocoon and waits by faith beneath the milky weed.
“Better is the end of a thing” (Eccles. 7:8), she sings, while spinning day and night and night and day.
Once safe inside, clothed in humility, she waits—like one whose treasures are in heaven where thieves cannot break-in.
Does she dream of monarch wings that she may robe in queenly gold or royal red? Or does she know no colored wings dare to compare with those of faith if she is one of His?
Perhaps the choicest wings await those who believe—and so, for her, “all things are possible” (Mk 9:23).
Dear Lord,
Wherever we find ourselves today, teach us to live more prayerfully and more thankfully. When our enemies reproach, even this we can bear, knowing You turn away the things that we fear, for Your judgments are good.

Your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hidden His face from you that He will not hear. ―Numbers 3:23
While resting on the mountainside, we watch a spider masterfully tooling its path of deception. Unsuspecting passersby will soon find themselves entangled in its glistening thread. Much like this, sin is sure to find us out (Num. 32:23).
Where are you, spider on the web? What false professions do you weave to foolish passersby? Do those who marvel at your tooling, notice not your barefaced lie?
Clandestine Charlatan, “your lips have spoken lies” (Isa. 59:3). Sir, I will call you Sin! For there on a web of make-believe, you masquerade on fragile lengths of one consuming thread!
When your alluring web is spun, each moment is uncertain for unsuspecting guests, for who can know the numbering of his days?
Long they stare at sinfulness, idolatry, and vice, until unaware, they are ensnared, where you will “find them out” (Num. 32:23)! Professing themselves wise, they become fools though Godly wisdom tries to warn.
An excuse is left to plea when, with a puff of wind, your cobweb’s gone, and you’re exposed at last!
Dear Lord,
Soon after rising from baptism, You were led by the Prince of Darkness to be tempted in the desert, but each time, Lord, You overcome! God forbid that we who are “dead to sin, live any longer therein”(Rom. 6:2).

What sparrow is silent as the shadows on the foothills raise their shades? While the mountains shimmer in their stead, she lifts a song of praise to her Creator in these first hours: “I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever” (Psalm 89:1), she sings, amid His mercies new.

As you lift your eyes on high in a season of thanksgiving and self-examination, watch the heavens declare the glory of God and the earth show His handiwork (Psalm 19:1). Straight away, you will find yourself nodding to His grace as you listen to His voice on the waters, watch Him cover the heavens with the clouds, prepare the earth for rain, and make the grass grow upon the mountains (Psalm 147:8). Finding solace in the company of our Creator brings blesséd assurance as we glorify God and learn what it means to “know the joyful sound” (Psalm 89:15).
