Because God Loves You, He Provides: Part 161
Did you know that God loves you more than anyone else could ever love you? God proves His love to you by His restful love:
Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. (Matthew 11:28 NIV)
The Greek word for rest is anapauso, which means to give intermission, refreshment, and complete rest. I find there are times in my life where I’ve been going so hard and so fast that I feel like I just can’t keep going. I’m sure you’ve experienced it as well. The job is stressful, the bills are piling up, and the proverbial light at the end of the tunnel is a train headed your way. Maybe you just received bad news, a relationship has been shattered, or a loved one has passed away. All of these things and many more can cause us to want to scream or give in or give up, but the words of our Savior remind us that when we are burdened or weary, all we need to do is go to the Savior. He gives us rest.
There are days that have been overwhelmingly taxing or brutally strenuous, and they make you want to throw in the towel. We’ve all been there. You might be there right now. Take heart—the Lord is with you. He loves you. He cares for you. He will help you if you come to Him. Call out His name, and He will answer you. He will give you rest in your soul.
Circumstances will always change, but the love of God will never change. He has always loved you—and He always will. He will never stop loving you:
Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with Me. (Revelation 3:20 NIV)
Jesus is waiting to give you rest. He wants to have fellowship with you. He wants to empower you with His strength:
Repent, then, and turn to God, so that your sins may be wiped out, that times of refreshing may come from the Lord. (Acts 3:19 NIV)
Dear Father, we are weak, but You are strong. We need You above all things. Lord, we call on You today to come and give us rest—internal rest—that only You can give. In Jesus’s name, amen.

A Year of Love
Each day of this year I am challenging myself, and anyone else who will join, to love like you’ve never been hurt. Love unconditionally. Love completely. Love forgivingly. What if when Jesus said to love your neighbor as yourself, He really meant it? Think about your neighbors, your co-workers, your in-laws and even your outlaws..... Do you love them as yourself?
I would like to start with the two greatest commandments:
Matt. 22:34, “Hearing that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, the Pharisees got together. 35 One of them, an expert in the law, tested him with this question: 36 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” 37 Jesus replied: “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’38 This is the first and greatest commandment. 39 And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ 40 All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”
In Reality, Jesus said this: Love God & Love People
Let us hold these two truths in our hearts this year and Love God with all of our heart, soul, and minds and Love others as much as we love ourselves....
