AFTER RECEIVING CHRIST

What happened after I gave my life back to Christ? Oh it has been a very interesting series of events. Not long after those twenty steps to the altar, I decided to be rebaptized and rededicate my life to Christ. “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” Mark 16:15 (NKJV) About six months after I received Jesus Christ back into my life. I was rebaptized into the Holy Spirit down in the flooded Illinois River town of Liverpool, Illinois.
A small river community of less than 100 people, I’m guessing. I couldn't tell you if anyone again has been baptized down in that muddy, murky, dark water of the Illinois River or not, but it was a very nice Sunday summer day, and about thirty family and friends of the church came to witness this Holy event. There was a catfish tournament going on and the fisherman were getting cranky as they were putting boats in and out on the flooded banks, where excited Christians were in their way worshiping the Lord and singing songs upon the levee.
When God wants to get people's attention He sure knows how, and that day He did for sure. “And do not fear those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. But rather fear Him who is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.”, Matthew 10:28 (NKJV). There were four of us that day standing in front of the whole world confessing that we gave our lives to Jesus Christ. Myself, my wife, my middle daughter, and someone from another church all were Baptized. I went down first, I remember coming out of the water thinking I was to see the clouds move and hear God speak. He didn't, but He already had things in motion! Again it shows you we are always on His mind. Something I'm sure you'll realize after reading these testimonies. God never misses a beat! And what he had in store - it showed the following Sunday.
The church invited a guest speaker, Tom, who came to our little river town, country church. He was working in the gifts of prophecy, words of knowledge, and healing, that were taking place in that little church. To my amazement something wonderful was getting ready to happen to me. Something else that was going to change my life.
I was standing up in front of the church, just to catch anyone that got slayed in the Spirit. As I stood behind this young lady with my hands ready to catch her when she fell, all of the sudden the amazing power of the Holy Spirit went through her and right into me. It felt like an unharnessed electricity went into me. I, myself, had received these miraculous gifts, I now have. I was filled with an overflowing power of the Holy Spirit, such as speaking in tongues, as recorded in the book of Acts, and also the gift of healing and knowledge, recorded in 1 Corinthians 12.
