They left the studio, and she could tell John was furious. He clenched his jaw, and the cords of his neck were tight, but he said nothing on the drive. As they shut the front door, he turned on her with a punch to the stomach. "Don't you ever embarrass me like that again? You are not capable of a public interview and I want you to remain silent. Do I have to teach you everything?”
She slumped to the floor and tried to catch her breath. Then John leaned over and whispered in her ear, “Don’t even think about leaving me again. I can get to Shelly any time I want to. We would hate for something happen to her, now wouldn’t we?”.
