Basics of Profession
The Google dictionary says the definition of profess is “to claim that one has.” My question to you is, Can God claim you? He does not force our hands, but can God look at you (point your finger to your heart) and say, “Yeah, see that one right there? She’s mine”? Do you allow Him to show you off? Do you allow Him to be with you in the midst of trouble? Do you allow Him to deliver you from your temptations? He will do this for you, but do you let Him claim you? Do you let Him profess His love for you? Stop reading right now and think about it.
As I am getting older and obtaining more relationship experience, I’m noticing that sometimes we as women aren’t letting men be men. Meaning we don’t let men do what they are naturally taught to do: profess, provide, and protect. A lot of us are raised by strong, single mothers, and that is wonderful. I was raised by a strong, single mom. But sometimes we get the ideal in our heads that we must do it all by ourselves, that we must lead. We get it in our heads that we must work two to three jobs, we must fix things around the house, and we must look for love in all the wrong places instead of waiting.
Don’t get me wrong, ladies; we can fix things ourselves and be the sole providers for our families, because we are conquerors. However, if a man believes his three roles in life are to profess his love, provide for, and protect the people he loves, how do you think he feels when you do his job for him?
The same goes with our heavenly Father! We are always trying to fix the problem ourselves instead of waiting on our heavenly Father. If we are not allowing our mates at home (who we can see, touch, hear, and smell) to profess, provide, and protect, how are we letting God (the one whom we can’t see or touch) profess His love for us? Show His love for us? Take a minute and think about it before moving on to the next chapter.

About the Author
Brittany Cherelle Preston was born in Indianapolis, IN in 1991 to Jeannie and James Preston. Starting from a young age, Brittany loved to sing, dance and act. Her parents quickly realized her passion and talent for the arts, and enrolled Brittany in programs and classes to grow her skills.
Brittany found her passion for writing while in school at the early age of ten years old, as she became a published author in a children’s poems book. Brittany continued to write poems all through her school years. She has published several poems online and won many awards.
During high school, Brittany became extremely interested in modeling and acting, and participated in several fashion shows nationwide. She continued to grow her passion by completing professional modeling and acting training. She also took some college courses. She became more involved in praise dance, and teaching dance to youth.
Brittany has a love for being in front of and behind the camera, as she loves to take pictures of people and her surroundings. Later in Brittany’s adult life, she found her way back to writing, she believes that writing is one of God’s gifts that He has given her and plans to continue writing books, poetry, and movie scripts.
