"Write! Write!!" A voice keeps telling me to write... Compelling me to write, to tell em bout my plight... Even when my eyes are heavy late at night, I must write... In case I never reach the mic - in case i never reach the prize, even though i paid the price... "Write, write!!" Just let my mind take flight, late night, poor light... The precise reason why I possess poor sight... Because I write... Because my future isn't promised even though it looks bright... Because my hands are tied, my feet are chained, and my pen is my only weapon in this fight... Because I'm the middle man in a position to reach both Black and White... "Write, write!!" Because my peers are teaching them wrong, somebody gotta tell 'em right... Rappers give you death for free, but pastors recording the Gospel, selling life... "Write!" Until my hand cramps, my eyes burn, and my neck is tight... In an effort that I might reach a new height... I write that souls may be stirred and revival might ignite... That my audience might allow the Bible to get down inside them and en-light... Providing insight and guidance in this life... I "write!" because I know what its like... Because I been there and I know if they keep striving, everything will be alright... I "write!" for the child frightened by the sirens and the lights... For the young girl tryna fight off her father who is tryna slide up inside her at night... "Write, write!" Mothers crying over young ones dying in gun fights... Fathers doing time, serving life, wearing stripes... The harvest is white & the timing is ripe... So "Write!"
