Tall fortress made with grains of sand
Complete with mote built by hand
Turrets and towers how high shall they be?
Back and forth from land to sea
Ocean buckets, shovels, shells
Encroaching waves, mounting swells
Rising tides rush my play
Oh no! My sandcastle just washed away!

About the Author
Evelyn Amelia Huckleberry is the author’s pen name representing her two grandmothers. Evelyn had an everlasting impact with her love for God and people. Amelia was the author’s kindergarten teacher and immensely influential in trying new things and seeing the world. Both beloved grandmothers were joyful, adventurous, exuberant, and inspiring.
The author loves Jesus and aims to glorify Him in every endeavor. Originally from Hummelstown, Pennsylvania, she currently lives in Northern Virginia with her loving husband and will soon release more poetry of Picklepenny’s playful curiosities.
