As women, we often confuse our standards with our expectations. They definitely coincide with one another; however, they are unquestionably separate entities when discussing relationships. Simply, your standard is what you require and your expectation is the attitude of what you hope will be done for him to continue to meet your standards. Usually when someone says your standards are too high, it means the person either does not have any or they simply don’t meet them. Don’t let that bother you. When you maintain your standards, your potential mate will either rise to the challenge or walk away because he cannot. If they walks, let them. They were not what you needed anyway.

About the Book
The Expectations of Our Standards was conceived during a conversation I once had with my former co-worker about relationships. While I’m not exactly sure what we were discussing and how the concept came up, I am definitely glad I made the comment about us, as women, knowing the difference between our expectations and our standards.
About the Author
Educator by profession, Earlyshia Thomas, a native of Dallas, TX walks in purpose working with youth and passion empowering women on every level to be who they say they want to be. Her story is one of adversity, unshakable faith, and endurance. Through it all she remains in a position to be who she is called to be; worthy!
She received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Texas Southern University (Houston, TX) and a Master of Education in Administration & Supervision from Tennessee State University (Nashville, TN). In her spare time, she loves to travel, read, and shop! In addition to being a full-time educator, Earlyshia manages Choose You Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in Dallas, TX. She is a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated and National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, and also working towards a Doctorate of Education (ED.D) at Trevecca Nazarene University.
