1 John 3:1 Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed
on us, that we should be called children of God!
As a child of God, no matter what happens in your life, your heavenly Father loves you dearly and nothing you do can ever change that. There is nothing for you to prove. You only need to rest. Rest and receive your Abba’s love for you. Joseph Prince
Old Testament prophets did not speak of God as being a “Father.” They knew Him in many aspects of His nature, but not as Abba Father, Daddy God. The concept of God was that He is holy and powerful.
Jesus refers to His Father continually in His High Priestly Prayer in John, Chapters 14 through 17. Jesus came to reveal that the Father was loving and kind, willing to help us and meet our needs.
In his book Apprehended Identity, Chris Gore writes: We don’t become what our Father thinks of us; we actually become what “we think” our Father thinks of us. Is He a harsh Father that demands performance…or a Father that has pure delight in His beloved children?
Chris Gore goes on: Many years were spent performing for my Heavenly Father because it seemed to me that if good fruit could be shown, maybe it would result in my being considered worthy of a seat at His table. Yet the reality was my behavior was that of an orphan, rather than a son who already had a seat at my Father’s table, and had access to everything He is and everything He has.
The Father’s plan has always been to completely wipe away any “orphan spirit” thinking we may have. He does that by assuring us that when Jesus went to the cross, He completely demolished the sin barrier we had with a holy God. That means no more striving to be “good enough,” because the Father put us “In Christ,” who has made us good enough!
“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, Abba Father. The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God” (Romans 8:15-16).
We were adopted by Papa Daddy God! He wanted us, He chose us! We are no longer orphans! Kick that mindset out! We are much-loved children! We are privileged to be part of His great family!
