Before I go any further, maybe here’s a good place to stop and talk about obedience itself. I’m reminded of a time while teaching in the children's ministry that a situation occurred and I used the “obey, obey now, obey willingly” phrase with some children. When I finished my exhortation, a young girl raised her hand and asked, “What does obey mean?” Oops! A little more teaching time was needed. Let’s take a look at the word obey.
Simply put, the word obey means to “do, or carry out a command, request, laws, rules, or instruction.” Simple, right? No, it’s not. We like to put ourselves first, so this simple word, “obey,” will at times seem to be a problem. God, having a radical love for us, created us with free will. We get to choose to obey, obey now, and obey willingly. If God had been a tyrant, He could have made us in such a way that we would be forced to obey, and especially forced to obey Him. God loves us, and He wants us to choose to love Him. Our love for God is shown when we choose to obey. Not only does God want us to choose to love Him; He wants us to choose to love one another. God wants us to submit to Him and submit to one another. When we simply “do, or carry out a command, request, laws, rules, or instruction,” we are showing our love through that obedience.

About the Book
When we hear the voice of God what is our reaction? Do we doubt what He says? Do we answer with our own questioning? Or do we jump right in and just do it? This book hopes to give encouragement to “obey, obey now, obey willingly”. Reading this book will give insight on hearing and listening to God. It will show by obedience to God we will bring delight to Him and we will see the results of God’s radical love for us.
About the Author
Linda Ramsey has enjoyed working in children’s ministry for over fifty years. She is the mother of five, grandmother of twenty- five, and married to the same spouse for fifty years. During this time she has learned the importance of obedience. Her family and friends have encouraged her to write this book because of how the phrase “obey, obey now, obey willingly” had affected their lives. Her love of children led her to seek a bachelor of science degree in elementary education from Moorhead State University. Her love for God led her to seek a Master’s degree and PhD in theology from the Minnesota School of Theology while attending Community Church International Bible School.
