Introduction

Having pastored six churches with various backgrounds, economic levels, and locations, it has become obvious that in almost every church, there are those who get a charge out of their church life. Church is something that energizes these people. They are happier as a result of what they receive from the Lord through what He calls His body.

On the other hand, there are many church members who are flippant, unconcerned, or even antagonistic about their church life. Happiness and joy are not words they would associate with church. At one time, some of these may have known the exhilaration that can come from being a part of a church body, but that is no longer there. This person may be as involved as ever, or he may have dropped out of church completely. In either case, there is not happiness coming as a result of his relationship with his church.
