Your Perspective or God’s Perspective?

Battle Weary


He will fight for you against your enemies,
and he will give you victory!
Deuteronomy 20:4

There is no escaping:
Life is full of battles, battle after battle,
An ongoing fight—it’s a real plight.
Is it any wonder that you are battle weary?

You’ve been embattled for so long,
Tossed about like rough waves on a stormy day,
Beaten and worn, and you have no say;
Sinking and about to drown
As the enemy tries to destroy you, to wear you down,
Once a winner, a conqueror, now you have lost your crown,
And your beautiful smile has become a permanent frown …
And you are battle weary.

Peace is elusive:
It comes near, teases you, and then runs away.
You try to fight but fear and panic taunt you all day.
Anxiety jeers you and latches on to you like your skin.
Worry rips you apart, and you are shattered and broken
Like glass in pieces that cannot be put together again,
Leaving you in a position of weakness, depression, pain …
And you are so battle weary.

Man, woman, child of God,
Do not resign yourself to this malady.
Battle weariness is not your destiny.
You were not made to take it on;
This is a battle that has already been won.
Your strategy has been so wrong—
By yourself, you aren't that strong.
That’s why you are battle weary.

It’s time to assess your position.
This is not a place for you to settle.
You’ve been fighting a losing battle.
In your strength you can’t match the enemy.
You have to change your strategy.
You can’t be the general of the army.
This is not how it was meant to be.
There is no need to be battle weary.

Begin to see yourself as victorious:
You are a winner, more than a conqueror,
So change your mindset and your posture.
Prayer must now be your weapon;
Praise and worship, a precondition;
And the word of God, a compulsory companion.
This is how your battle will be won.
Be battle ready!

Didn’t the Lord make you a promise?
He said that He would fight for you,
And that which He said He surely will do.
He will take care of any battle once you give Him the role,
And victory is always guaranteed when He has control.
You’ve been broken, but He will make you whole
From the crown of your head right down to your sole.
And you no longer will be battle weary!
