I intentionally limited the focus and scope of this book. It is not an all-encompassing book on cancer from a clinical or academic perspective. It does not cover in detail the fabulous work of specific hospitals or other not-for-profit organizations dedicated to the global fight against cancer. Many writers have done an exceptional job covering the valiant efforts of organizations such as St. Jude, The American Cancer Society, The Leukemia-Lymphoma Society, CancerCare, The World Cancer Research Fund International, and others. I have the deepest respect and admiration for such organizations and would encourage everyone to consider giving or increasing their charitable donations to them. However, I penned this book with you, the profit-seeking investor, squarely in mind. You are ambitious and remarkably busy, yet thoughtful and conscientious, and want to leave behind a legacy for others to follow. Like me, you love making money without apology and the freedom it provides, and you equally hate cancer in all of its diabolical forms and effects. This book was written for you - an investor who has a spectrum of experiences - from the new or experienced investor with a general aversion to the perils of cancer (perhaps only knowing a few people directly affected), to the new or experienced investor who has a personal disdain for a particular type or types of cancer (from either directly experiencing it or having a friend or loved one who has or had cancer). The common bond for all readers that I am seeking to reach is your desire to build profitable investment portfolios that add new streams of wealth and financial success while contributing to a worthwhile crusade – investing in companies with the mission of treating and eliminating the most lethal forms of cancer from the face of the earth. About the Author
Eric Shea Broadus is a leukemia survivor and the founder and investment adviser representative at Can Serve Free LLC, an investment advisory firm. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from IUPUI and a Master of Arts in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University. Broadus holds an investment advisory license and has more than twenty years of experience in various finance roles. He lives with his wife, Liliana, in Georgia.
