(an excerpt from the beginning of Chapter 6. The God who Satisfies): The truth that God is enjoyable, delightful, beautiful, and deeply satisfying transcends human understanding. Or better said, that God allows himself to be enjoyed, delighted in, gazed upon, and satisfied by is supremely awesome and humbling. That God would reveal himself to us, offer His presence to us, welcome us, and let us know Him for real, let us experience Him relationally and intimately, that is beyond human comprehension – after all, in our own eyes it would be easy to see ourselves as merely a piece of cosmic dust in a seemingly infinite impersonal universe. But the truth is that God is supremely relational and desires to be known for real. He does not want to be known only conceptually, but personally and intimately. So intimately, that in His economy He made it possible to make us His dwelling, all possible because of the sacrifice of Jesus’ life on our behalf, that we could live before Him, indwelt by Him, empowered by Him, all the while enjoying continual and meaningful fellowship with Him. Through the passages from Scripture that follow, let us hear God’s heart and voice as He speaks of the wonders of the exceedingly satisfying God to whom we belong and whom we love and adore all because of Christ’s sacrifice. These passages draw from the imagery of our senses – taste, sight, and touch – and speak of the tangible reality of how deeply He satisfies.

About the Author
Jonathan Gale is a practicing scientist and former university professor. The oldest son of medical missionaries in Costa Rica, he now resides in Massachusetts with Cindy, his wife of 40 years. Father of five grown children and church elder - imparting the Father's love and the thrill of loving Him are his supreme passions. He enjoys Bible teaching and writing, his other two books being "In Your Name We Glory: An Inspirational Guide and Complete Reference to the Names and Titles of God" and "The Joy of Thinking with You: Heart and Mind Joined in Loving God."
