“God don't like ugly.” While not grammatically correct, this statement has been used in our extended family as a note of humor over the years when we can see that God is not rewarding bad behavior. I can think of a few times that some family member has quietly uttered it and the rest of us nearby have struggled to keep a straight face. God does sometimes seem to have a sense of humor in how he redirects our bad behaviors. He can also be direct and firm and, as we southerners say, “yank our chains” as needed, too. We need to remember this when we have been wronged and are considering revenge. God is clear that we can trust Him to handle it. “Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord.”” Romans 12:19 ESV Not only does God tell us to let Him take care of vengeance, but He also tells us to embrace the old “kill them with kindness” adage. “To the contrary, “if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink; for by so doing you will heap burning coals on his head.”” Romans 12:20 ESV This can be a tough one for a lot of us. It is easy to love someone who loves us, but it is tough to love someone who has wronged us. God says to do it anyway. “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” Romans12:21ESV Be encouraged today that you are not alone and that God sees and knows all. God's timing is perfect and He loves us. He's got us. ❤️
