THE POWER OF SPEAKING FAITH – FILLED WORDS
WORD SEED: “Death and life are in the power of the tongue” (Prov. 18.21a).
THE SEED OF THE WORD
The words you speak have the ability to give life to a person or a situation. This was established when God spoke this world into existence by the power of His words (Gen. 1.1-3, Heb. 11.3). Words can kill or destroy a person or a situation. That is because words are more than just sounds coming from our mouth; they have real power to build up or tear down, to motivate or discourage, to lift people up or to drag them down. The most negative or harmful words are usually spoken when an individual feels angry, or unjustly treated. The important thing to remember is that we are going to have to give an account of what we say when we stand before the Lord; so we must learn to tame our tongues” (Matt.12.34-37).
THE ACTION OF THE WORD
There is supernatural power and life in God’s Word, the Bible. First John 5: 14 -15 reads, “This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us — whatever we ask — we know that we have what we asked of him.” The first thing God wants us to do when facing any unmanageable situation is to begin to speak His Word over it! Ephesians 6:17 tells us to “take up the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God!” The Lord has given us His Words to speak during various situations. Trust that it will work on your behalf by finding the promise of God in the Bible concerning whatever you need and speaking it out with faith and authority; knowing that it will not return void or empty but shall accomplish God’s Will (Isa. 55.11).
THE PERSISTENCE OF THE WORD
God’s Word is His revealed Truth. “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart” (Heb. 4.12). The Word can pierce deep into our souls and bring conviction of our need to trust Christ. It is impossible for doctors and surgeons to operate on the mind or will of man. Those are spiritual problems and must be taken care of by spiritual means in order to change the heart of man. However, God’s Word speaks to the deepest needs and cleanses the most corrupt heart as He drives conviction into our hearts and souls. “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight” (Heb. 4.13a).
SCRIPTURES FOR MEDITATION
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof” (Prov. 18.21).
“So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it” (Isa. 55.11).
“And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive” (Matt. 21.22).
“And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God” (Mark 11.22).
