Why am I screaming? Why am I crying? And why am I in such excruciating pain? I’m bleeding profusely from the right side of my forehead. Must press down tightly, for my blood will flood the ground. I’m getting lightheaded. Ready to faint on the spot. What happened?

Rainy Days

It doesn’t take much to want to stay home some days. But a rainy day is a notch of yes added. Relaxing while watching your favorite game show, movie, or detective drama. Rewinding if need be or recording if necessary. This twenty-first-century living is to be in awe. I’m at an age where I recall folk planning their day around soap operas or even a commercial in order to run to the bathroom or grab a snack. And hoping neither will take more time than the commercial.

Remembering 2nd Lieutenant Michael Mitchell

All over one dollar

It makes me want to holler

How evil can evil be

Bedded in a man aka the adversary

Determined to take a shot

A loaded gun he did cock

People were around but could not stop

For his face showed the devastation he intended to drop

Like the twisted ending to some Hollywood plot

The Gun still aimed to take the best shot

On the 2nd Lieutenant's death, he did decree

Daddy

One of my fondest memory is the fishing trip. My brother and I baited hooks while sitting around the campfire. We had so much fun talking about all the fun we were having.
Needless to say, we were so talkative that the fish took notice and stayed away. That day was the day I ate fried eel fried in a frying pan over a campfire. What a Kodak moment.

No, I didn’t want him locked up. Yes, he did harm me when he stole from me. The feeling that only a victim would and could understand washed all over me. He could be my son. He appears to be around the same age as my son. My only child. Is he somebody’s only? Is his mother thinking of him at this moment in time? Is she tearing up? Is she praying?

Rock Steady

I’m bobbin and weaving all over this danger. Trying to steady myself. I don’t want to fall. At my age, the worst scenario is seeing myself fall to my knees since they hurt frequently. I don’t care to borrow anymore hurt.

 
Stretch It

My life is like a rubber band sometimes stretched too thin because I enjoy living on the edge. Yes, I can be somewhat of a daredevil, getting as close as I dare to the edge with the promise of toppling over if one more step is taken. At the very edge is where I want to be. I'm always stretching the rubber band too thin! I love the rush. I feel so alive in my life. Giving gas to the engine. Foot to the now floored pedal. Pushing too far like a push-pin too deep into the corkboard causing the cork pieces to crumble to the floor.

So here I am again stretching the rubber band too thin that night many years ago. I tremble even now, being scared for I remember 108.
