The first three verses of the Bible should be considered as three distinct events that took place in four different eras of the earth’s history: Precambrian, Paleozoic, Mesozoic, and Cenozoic. The earth’s history is not cyclical; rather, it is linear-based.
The first verse—“In the beginning, God created the heaven, and the earth”—consists of the Precambrian, Paleozoic, and Mesozoic eras.
Heaven is 13.8 billion years old, and the earth is 4.6 billion years, minus 66 million years old.
The second verse—“And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters”—is the beginning of the Tertiary period of Cenozoic era. The timeline is sixty-six million years.
The third verse—“And God said, ‘Let there be light’”—is the beginning of re-creation, seven thousand years ago.
It took almost four billion years for the earth to form; this was the Precambrian era. The rocks that were formed during the Precambrian era were considered azoic, meaning having no life. In 1954, however, when upper rocks were examined under a microscope, scientists found single-celled organisms, like bacteria and Stromatolites, existed in these rocks.
During the Cambrian period of the Paleozoic era, approximately 550 million years ago, complex creatures suddenly appeared. This is called the Cambrian explosion. God created complex creatures like trilobites and other sea creatures. These Cambrian marine invertebrates appeared suddenly, without any precursor in the preceding strata.
The new era, which is called Mesozoic (middle life), began approximately 250 million years ago. It has three periods known as Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous. During the Mesozoic era, big and powerful dinosaurs roamed the earth, along with reptiles and mammals.
The Mesozoic era began approximately 250 million years ago and is known as the age of reptiles and conifers. Dinosaurs, monstrous beasts, and mammals roamed the earth, and gymnosperm flora flourished during this era. Then one day, sixty-six million years ago, a devastating asteroid hit the earth with a great blow, and all animals and plants became extinct. The asteroid catastrophe preceded a prehistoric flood known as Zuni mega sequence recorded in the earth strata that brought landslides and mudslides, burying all living and nonliving things and ending the first creation.
Scientific evidence shows that an asteroid crashed to the earth at the Yucatan Peninsula with high velocity. The size of the asteroid was said to be six miles wide, and the earth was impacted beyond recognition.
The earth was decimated completely during the asteroid catastrophe, the beautiful earth that once beaming with the diverse life of fauna and flora during the first creation. The light and energy producing objects lost their power. The skies were no longer lit to see the glory and wonders of the universe. The sun and stars were no longer able to dominate the skies. Darkness was everywhere for sixty-six million years known as “The faint young sun paradox”. The blackout that took place was not understood or imagined. The sun and the stars remained in the skies as lifeless objects. The heavens that declared the glory of God and the firmament that showed his handiwork became obsolete. The magnificent glory, once radiant and visual, was not seen for many years. At the same time, due to the instability in the sky, the asteroid hit the earth with a great explosion.
The earth suffered one of the great disasters in history, and the blow destroyed all ecosystems, including the ozone layer. A great explosion caused the magnetic field to rise to its highest levels. Fire rained from the skies and increased the temperature; the heat rose to such high levels that it caused the rocks to fold ninety degrees because they lost their hardness and became soft.
According to scientific evidence the whole solar system was hit hard during this time. It was bombarded with space rocks or meteorites.
Planet Venus: - One hundred percent of Venus’ surface was overturned by the cosmic bombardments, and it changed the direction of its rotation. It is rotating clockwise which is opposite to the rotation of the earth.
Planet Mars: - Fifteen percent of the Mars surface is overturned by the cosmic bombardments.
Planet Uranus: - Due to cosmic bombardment, the planet Uranus got almost ninety-eight-degree tilt and it is rotating on its side. Also, it rotates clockwise which is opposite to the rotation of the earth.
Moon: - The other side of the moon which is not visible to the earth has scars that cover fifteen percent of the surface.
The earth was dormant for many millions of years, according to Genesis 1:2, just digesting the shock, pain, and tremors. During this period, for almost sixty-six million years, there was no life found in the earth’s strata.
Genesis 1:2 is the beginning of the Tertiary period of Cenozoic era. It lasted almost sixty-six million years, until the re-creation in six days, seven thousand years ago in the Holocene epoch of the Quaternary period.
At this stage of the earth’s history, no life was found in the earth strata. All living creatures, including bacteria and all types of flora, had been decimated. The Tertiary period includes the Paleocene, Eocene, Oligocene, Miocene, and Pliocene epochs; the Quaternary period includes the Pleistocene and Holocene epochs. These were completely submerged under universal ocean, according to Genesis 1:2, until the re-creation in Upper Holocene epoch.
What was the reason for the re-creation? Why did God create a second time when his creation was in an obsolete state? God values his creation, and he has a purpose. God created the beautiful universe once and filled the earth with life.
The answer lies in Isaiah 45:18: “For thus,” saith the Lord that created the heavens, God Himself that formed the earth and made it. He hath established it. He created it not in vain, and He formed it to be inhabited, “I am the Lord; and there is no one else.”
This is the heart of God. He values every creature he created with wisdom and knowledge. This very reason gave rise to God’s re-creating the earth seven thousand years ago, when the earth was lifeless, and the Spirit of God was grieving and moaning for the loss of his creation by moving on the face of the waters
What were the existing geological features of the earth at the time of re-creation? All seven continents were broken off from the Pangea configuration and settled in the new positions as North and South America, Europe, Asia, Australia, Africa, and Antarctica.
The mountains on all continents were raised and settled in place, as you see today.
A single universal ocean covered the entire globe, including all the continents and mountains. It appears that even though water covered the entire globe, there was no marine life. The water that covered the globe was freshwater, not saltwater. The salt from the oceans disappeared during the global flood. We can infer from the present salt found in the oceans that it started to accumulate sixty-two million years ago. An asteroid struck the earth sixty-six million years ago, and the earth experienced a violent situation until it settled down with a universal ocean.
