IT’S NOT HOW YOU LOOK BUT HOW YOU FEEEEEL ON THE INSIDE You can’t allow yourself to feel lost and alone. You can’t feel like an outsider Inside your own home. You can’t allow the darkness in And make you think you lost your only friend. You can’t continue to feeeeel That everyone is against you. You can’t afford to think That the whole world is out to get you. Don’t worry about what people say; People are going to talk anyway. Because it’s not how you look But how you feeeeel on the inside. And you can no longer feel insecure. How can you make it like that? How will you endure? Love starts on the inside And that’s for sure. So, keep it plain. Just keep it pure. Love is something that you have obtained. Use it to build yourself. Em, use it to gain Respect for yourself and the beauty that you possess, The things that you shouldn’t hide, Because it’s not how you look But how you feeeeel on the inside. Find your security in this insecure world!

Dorothy Love’ll is a poet who earned a bachelor’s degree in organizational management from Bluffton University and a master’s degree in organizational leadership from the Gonzaga University, School of Professional Studies. She is the author of the poetry, God’s Anointing Has Set Me Free, and is a loving wife, mother to one son and daughter-in-love, and grandmother to two beautiful grandsons.
