There was a season in Steve and my marriage where money was tight. When I say tight, I don’t mean we ran out of money just before payday – oh, we could only wish that was how it was! No, this was more like payday was Friday and by Sunday I had paid the bills and tithe and offerings, and we had no more money. Want to know something else? We got paid every two weeks. So, we did not just wait five more days for payday. We waited twelve more days. Eternity! Steve and I practice the principle of giving tithes and offerings to the church. We always had, and with our finances strapped, that wasn’t going to change. Malachi 3:10 tells us, “Bring the tenth part into the storehouse so that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,’ says the Lord of All. ‘See if I will not then open the windows of heaven and pour out good things for you until there is no more need” (NLT). Yes, we had no money more often than we had money, but we didn’t go hungry. We had clothes on our backs and a roof over our heads. Were all our bills paid? Well…. most of them. Some of our debtors got the eany-meany-miney-moe every month. I made a two -week menu to make sure our food stretched for five kids and two adults. I was a stay-at-home mom, and my husband worked all the overtime he could so that I could stay home. Our youngest ones were just 2 toddlers and a preschooler. When it came to the last three days before payday, our cabinets were getting bare. It wasn’t always easy to keep to the menu and never change the course.

About the Author
Terri’s transparent and heartfelt writing comes from her experiences through life. Terri has served God in ministry for 38 years in one way or another; she has been a children’s pastor for 12 years. She is always looking for ways to grow in Christ and in knowledge, with continuing education and a neverending passion for teaching and mentoring children and adults. Her love of writing has been lifelong and she has published a previous book, “Hearing from God: When God speaks we better listen” and also previously published in the book, “Rock Stars: Inspiring A Team of Unstoppable Volunteers”. Terri’s passions, besides her family and ministries, are encouraging others in their faith and growth in Christ, visiting local coffee shops, being with friends. Currently, she is the Children’s Pastor at Heartland Ministries in Sharpsville, IN, and the Director/Principal at Heartland Christian Academy. Terri and her husband Steve reside in Kokomo, IN, have 5 children and their spouses and 10 absolutely beautiful and amazing grandchildren.
