I will never forget walking into the facility where my Mother resided in early 2020. It was about that same time that the facility hired a very polite Interim Administrator, who had quite a positive effect on the residents. I found him to be the best hire of the past few months during the constant chaos of frequent staff turnover and other issues. Unfortunately, his stay would not be for long. As I approached the sign-in desk, I noticed the kind Administrator standing over to one side. Before I could speak to him, he called out to me. “Are you here to visit your loved one?” “Yes”, I quickly replied with a smile. As the administrator walked over to me, he began explaining how I would be the last visitor inside of the facility, as his instructions had been to lock down the facility due to the “pandemic”. I believe that when the administrator spoke those words, my heart stopped beating.
Things at the facility had already been in decline, and I could only imagine how they might fail to a greater degree in meeting requirements; knowing the families would be unable to pop in during this time. There was already a poorly trained skeleton crew creating a questionable environment for the most vulnerable, so how was this going to work? My heart sank, as I felt that some of my biggest fears were on the way to becoming a reality.

About the Book
This assignment of a book was simply pinned from a place of deep heartbreak brought on by one having to make difficult life choices for loved ones. It tells of her battles in pulling “double duty” in trying to acquire safety and health for her Mother with Dementia and her Sister with Down Syndrome , with no real knowledge of how; but by the leading of the Lord. The battle would take her into a pandemic lockdown, where she would now fight the increasing facility neglect from outside of her Mother’s facility window, all while trying to keep her childhood promise of caring for her compromised sister. This is the story of one who found herself standing between Down Syndrome and Dementia, fighting depression. And though the trials of daily uncertainties grow more challenging and tiring, her faith remains solely in the God that cannot fail. He proves over and over that His grace is sufficient no matter the battle, and that His strength is most assuredly made perfect in our weaknesses. 2 Corinthians 12:9

As a new Author that has always had a love for words, she gladly follows in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother in the using of her gift of writing. Now answering the call to write, she feels passionate to relay words , information, and stories of truth and hope in practical and understandable ways with a scriptural base. She strives to follow her Savior that calls, leads, inspires, and gifts , for His divine purpose. This is an Author who gives all glory to the Gifter, and claims no great accomplishments to boast of, as she lives her life for an audience of One.
