About the Book

This devotional was written primarily to draw readers closer to Sacred Scripture and to create a prayerful opportunity for the reader to immerse themself in the Word of God. The book exposes the reader to a little-known litany from the diary of St. Faustina for use in prayer and reflection. Additionally, the book also promotes the practice of worship of the Blessed Sacrament in Eucharistic Adoration with the hope that it will become a more meaningful and routine practice by the reader. Because of its literary structure, this book can also serve as a source of daily reflection in a monthly cycle.

The 30 petitions from the litany are presented in sequential order. Underneath each petition is a short Gospel passage which represents the theme expressed in the petition. The passages selected span the entirety of Jesus’s time on earth as recorded in the Gospels; all of the four Gospels are represented. Following each Gospel passage is a short descriptive commentary paragraph situating the passage in the context of Jesus’s ministry and its relationship to the petition. The facing page allows for the reader to add notes and at the bottom of this page there is a relevant quote from one of the Church Fathers or Saints regarding each Gospel passage.

About the Author

After daily Mass in September 2021, I was speaking briefly with Father Jim. It was the Memorial of St. Jerome and the Gospel reading that day was Luke 10:1-12. I shared with him that I had recently begun a Master of Arts in Sacred Theology program. Then Father Jim said, “So, you are one of the seventy-two” and, before I knew what was happening, he reached out, laid hands on me and blessed me. Extremely humbling. My ultimate objective is to bring others closer to Sacred Scripture. If just one single person grows closer to God through my efforts as His instrument, then His will be done.
