Today, maybe a bright red bird,
Will fly into my lonely room.
Or a butterfly will land,
And I can call her, ‘Bloom’.
Oh, the smile that will come,
Eagerly on my face.
It will turn my lonely room,
Into an oasis of grace.
When I get a high fever,
it makes me feel sad.
Then my Mommie comes,
and I don't feel so bad.
She begins speaking,
inner thoughts to confess.
I know she's about to pray,
and that the Lord will bless.
Hello, my name is Nettie,
and I am eight years old.
I have an illness that is not contagious,
but I spend many days alone.
The problem is that I often fall,
in the kitchen and near my bed.
In the hall, and on the stairs,
And once, even on my head.

About the Book
In this book, the authors’ focus is on helping our young readers come to understand that difficult issues can affect not just the elderly, but the young as well. Many children are stricken with cancers, and other health problems; moreover, she wants them to know that the Lord is always watching over them and protecting them throughout their difficulties. And to recognize that sometimes things happen, and that change their plans, but to be assured that faith, hope and patience can strengthen them along their personal journey.
The author hopes that everyone reading this book, be it a juvenile or adult, will find it encouraging.
About the Author
While growing up, Avis recalls some of her siblings called her inquisitive, to put it mildly. That description of her is what has led her into writing. She has a kind heart for children and young adults and wants to help them navigate the precious gift of life. She has a colorful imagination and loves expressing it in her writing. The author believes that you will enjoy this book and then tell others about it.
Children are so impressionable that we need to be meticulous in how we shape them. It is imperative that we show them how to have faith, learn to pray, and to never give up. Having hope will take them further than we can imagine.
This story is about a young girl who finds peace, faith, and the power of God as she heals from an illness. Hope is her focus as she goes through the process.
