"When the time was right, God temporarily interrupted the patriarchal inheritance of rebellion for a very special Child to be born into the human family. Through the centuries, inheritance had always passed from father to children because God created man first and then made the woman from man’s side. Now, God confounded His enemies and caused His Own Son, The Ultimate Promised Child, to be born to a virgin. This Child inherited the nature of God, His Father. The Child was sinless, and grew to be The Perfect Man, Jesus. Three decades passed, followed by three years of public notoriety for This Sinless God-Man. Then one night, Jesus, the Son of God, struggled in prayer for hours in another garden far from Eden’s paradise where the first man originally rebelled. He was prepared to offer the Ultimate Sacrifice to save man from himself. Before dawn, Jesus was arrested, falsely accused, unfairly tried, and grossly condemned to death. He was violently and savagely punished for sins He did not commit. He paid the price for my rebellion, and for yours. The Romans eventually dragged Him to a part of the mountain outside the capital city and nailed Him, naked, to a wooden cross between two criminals who were doomed to die in the same fashion. This seems to be a horrific miscarriage of justice, an awful mistake, until you understand the whole story. You see, Jerusalem, the capital city of Israel, is located on Mount Moriah. That obscure place on the mountain outside Jerusalem where Jesus was crucified was very important. I believe that this was the exact same spot on the mountain of Moriah where God tested Abraham with the offering of his son Isaac. God kept His promise to redeem us. He used His Own Son in that place on Mount Moriah. Jesus paid the price in full with His Own Life. PRAISE GOD! He did not stay dead. We now celebrate the greatest part of this whole story every year on Resurrection Day. Jesus rose from death three days after His crucifixion! He has paid the price for our redemption! We can now be made alive spiritually and live with Him forever if we simply place our trust in Him and surrender our lives to Him."

About the Book
The Chaplain’s Tool Belt contains devotional messages that were originally written for and included in a chaplain’s newsletter written for employees of a Christian-owned company. As the company chaplain, David Caringer wanted to use a stylistic approach that might be more easily accepted by young technicians, which led to the title of the book. The thirty devotionals, which the author calls “construction projects,” highlight the process of sanctification, God’s promises to humanity, the significance of various prophecies, and various other themes. Consider questions such as: • Will we deny ourselves and take up our crosses to follow Jesus, or will we seek to gain the whole world only to forfeit our own souls? • Will we be ashamed of Jesus and His words in this adulterous and sinful generation, or will we be in the world but not of it? • Why is the virgin birth of Jesus so important to each one of us? We are saved by grace through faith in Jesus to grow ever stronger in good works. Let us all push ahead with a new commitment to grow ever closer to our calling as we feed our spirits with God’s word and share His message with the world around us.
About the Author
David Caringer is a former infantry paratrooper, U.S. Army o cer, and civilian police officer. Jesus Christ dramatically changed his life in 2003. Since then, he has extensively studied the Bible. He has served as a corporate chaplain for over ten years and is the lead chaplain for CoLiant Ministries.
