Hide Thy Word

If you knew that your mortal enemy had several different weapons they were using but it was clear that one weapon in particular had the ability to defeat you, would you spend much time, if any, trying to distract them from using those less threatening weapons? No. Anyone with an ounce of common sense would focus all of their resources on keeping that one devastating weapon out of the hands of their enemy. Satan doesn’t care if you listen to the Christian music station all day and it makes you feel good and even brings a tear or two to your eyes. When he assaults you are you going to start singing your favorite Christian pop song to him? I seriously doubt it. At least I hope not because it would be most ineffective. He doesn’t care if go hang out with all your Christian friends for a night of pizza and board games. While this is better than hanging out at a bar, cursing and fighting, it matters little to him as long as you’re conversations are about the things of the world. He loves it when we speak about our favorite secular actors or musicians and how much we respect them. He loves it when we gossip and complain like the rest of the world. He loves it when we make crass jokes using language that is not befitting a Christian. But he hates it with a passion when we get together with other believers and share what the Holy Spirit has taught and is teaching us from the Word.
