Forever Blooming with Jesus

“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.” Revelation 3:20 A FOOT IN THE DOOR A foot in the door means to take a step forward toward a goal; engaging in an attempt to succeed to advance in a career or business opportunity. This comes from a salesman who would stick their foot in the doorway to prevent the door from being slammed in their face. I love hearing about the inspiration behind a piece of art and finding out what the artist was thinking during the creative process. There’s a famous painting called “Light of the World” by William Holman Hunt in which Jesus is knocking on a door overgrown with weeds. The painting’s inspiration comes from Revelation 3:20 depicting Jesus standing outside waiting for us to open our hearts to Him. The door has no handle on the outside to reiterate the fact it’s up to us we to open the door from the inside to allow Jesus into our lives. I believe Jesus is waiting outside the door of everyone’s heart, we just have to want to let Him in. God creates a restlessness in us which stirs us to desire to know who He is. It’s during these times the Holy Spirit is working on us to get a foot in the door. Our problem is we’re so busy, we don’t hear the knock. Throughout our lifetime, the Lord creates opportunities for us to lean on Him. Some of the events may be challenging and uncomfortable because they’re outside our comfort zone. But when we’re bold enough to trust Him and rely on His strength, we grow spiritually because we know our accomplishment only came from God. I’ve seen this in my own life as He’s drawn me to write and the blessings I’ve received when I found the courage to open the doors He’s put before me.
